SOFIA

The easiest way to start is to use the Search Sofia box on the library's home page. After doing a basic search, refine your search to Library Catalog on the left of the screen to find books in the library.

Keyword: Use Keyword to start, especially if you are unsure of an author, subject, etc. You can combine several terms: for example, "history" and "Mexico".

Click the title for full display, which will yield more information such as Tables of Contents or Subjects such as: Mexico - History - Spanish colony, 1540-1810.

The full display will also yield the location and call number, the shelf "address".

Books may also be found by browsing the Reference Room by these call numbers.

Browse: For works BY an author, browse by Name, last name first (example: Unamuno, Miguel de). You may have to scroll down several pages to find particular works which are listed alphabetically after the author's name.

For works ABOUT an author and his/her works, browse by Subject under the author's last name. You can also use browse to search for any of the Subjects you may have found with a keyword search.
