What About My Own Work?
If you self-publish or publish in an open access journal, you may be using a creative commons license. These are pre-written licenses that anyone can use; they are designed to be easily understood and interpreted by the common user.
Each publisher has different copyright policies. These policies are good to know if you wish to share your work, post links on your website, or deposit in an institutional repository.
SHERPA/RoMEO keeps track of self-archiving policies in various journals. Simply search for the journal in question to see its policies on distributing your own work to repositories or on your own site.
