About this Guide

This guide is intended for faculty and students of Bishop's University to offer guidelines and resources pertaining to the use of copyrighted works. The information presented here represents our best interpretations of current legislation and licensing and should not be taken as legal advice.

All members of the Bishop's University community are subject to copyright legislation and, as such, the Library has a legal and ethical obligation to abide by the Canadian Copyright Act. Bishop's University also has an agreement with Copibec, a non-profit organization that protects the rights of authors and publishers. Compliance with the Copyright Act and Copibec is the responsibility of each member of the University community.

Please feel free to browse the tabs in this guide to answer any copyright questions you may have. We suggest starting with the Copying Guidelines (Print & Digital) section.
